Lil Nas X, The Weeknd e Doja Cat aparecem como concorrentes na categoria Artista do Ano, ao lado de Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran e Lady Gaga. Nas X e Doja acumulam seis indicações, cada um. Outros artistas negros figuram na lista de indicados, como Normani, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Saweetie, Drake, Kanye West, Megan Thee Stalion e outros.
